    (2022)
In Chinese culture, the moon has long been a powerful symbol of nostalgia, playing an essential role in the collective imagination. This project explores the cultural significance of the moon as an emblem of nostalgia within the Chinese linguistic and cultural context, while examining its connection to the origins of humanity.

    (Background research
    and mindmap)
Through literature analysis and interviews, the research reveals that the moon’s dual characteristics resonate deeply with human longing for permanence and the past. While the phases of the moon are ever-changing, the celestial body itself remains eternal, evoking both a fear of transience and a yearning for constancy. As a result, the moon often serves as a symbol of humanity’s eternal homeland. In various cultures, the moon is also associated with femininity and, by extension, the concept of motherhood, reinforcing its role as a universal emblem of home and belonging. The moon thus becomes a bridge between the transient and the eternal, connecting individuals to their inner sense of origin.

Building on this cultural and emotional framework, the project proposes a home fragrance brand inspired by the nostalgic allure of the moon. By transforming spaces through the evocative power of scent, the brand seeks to transport individuals back to an intimate corner of their inner world—their eternal homeland. This sensory-driven design aims to deepen people’s emotional connection to the moon as a symbol of nostalgia, fostering a richer understanding of its cultural significance.

    The FRAME:
One frame type stand with base. As a one-way medium for the audience in the house to obtain information from the outside world, it serves the same function as the windows in the house.

    THE INCENSE BURNER:
The distorted shape is like an ∞, representing the concept of eternity, and also echoes the shape of the logo.

TIME RESTING ON THE WOODEN DEST

That wooden rocking chair, in the rhythm of rocking, as if you can still feel someone sitting there, eyes lingering in the spring colors outside the window. The gentle folds of time are hidden under the bedding, and the old clothes hanging in the closet sway gently, as if they still retain the warmth of that distant afternoon. This fragrance condenses the wood and cotton of the bedroom and living room with the sediment of time to create a quiet haven.

    Notes:
Sandalwood, incense, lavender, patchouli, vetiver, amber, bergamot

    KITCHEN AIR, SWIRLING HEART

In the kitchen, the flour-stained wooden cutting board, the old-fashioned copper kettle hanging in the corner, and the freshly extinguished fire on the stove top seemed to still be warm. The heat condenses on the window, and the tea set on the countertop waits quietly for its next use. This fragrance is about the warm moments that lie behind everyday cooking.

    Notes:
Vanilla, Fig Leaf, Ginger, Cocoa, Almonds, Amber, Star Anise, Caramel

    HUMIDITY IN THE AIR’S CREASE
On the balcony, the water stains between the cracks of the tiles had not yet completely dried, the white laundry tub was stacked with freshly washed clothes, and the beads of water on the soap box reflected a fine light. A freshly dried white shirt sways gently in the breeze. The fragrance captures the wet, clean, everyday scenes of balconies and bathrooms, immortalizing them in a single, serene moment.

    Notes:
Apple, lemon, mint, neroli, white musk, cedar, lily of the valley, aldehydes
